What we do

Neurological Physiotherapy is a scientific profession but, as experts in our field, we take a holistic approach, looking at you as a whole person including your health, wellbeing and lifestyle. We’ve developed expertise in analysing abnormal movement, forming hypotheses around why its occurring and then developing a programme to assist you in relearning lost or impaired skills. Your involvement is vital in making these improvements, so we ensure that through working with you we educate and empower you to fully participate in your rehabilitation journey.

Why Neuro Physio?

Neurological Physiotherapy is Physiotherapy that deals specifically with treating people who are living with a neurological condition caused by damage to their brain, spinal cord or nerves. The main principle is promoting normal movement. This involves working on your posture and movement in order to train you to gain or regain function. By doing this we can help make movement less effortful, allowing you to feel more confident and helping you to strive to reach your goals.

Goal-based training

Making a Powerpoint presentation is good for hand dexterity, cognition and fatigue. Having friends over for food and drink involves going to the shops (increasing activity), talking to people (tricky if you have issues with your voice), preparing and chopping food whilst standing (balance rehab and hand dexterity). We can provide expert, specific training but gearing it towards things that matter to you means you’re motivated to work at it with us. Even if that is giving a presentation to friends over a cheese and wine night.

Increasing intensity

We help you to work towards increasing the intensity of your exercise, in order to improve the results. Whether it’s introducing you back to the gym, specialist classes, 1:1 training, we are always looking for ways to increase your fitness and strength by increasing intensity. This can be daunting but evidence tells us it’s vital in aiding your rehabilitation, and management of your symptoms, and with the right support you will see the difference it makes to your life.

“They tailored the treatment to my preferences and requirements and planned a bespoke treatment to address the problems effectively. It’s not a ‘one size fits all’ kind of treatment. I highly recommend Specialised and am very grateful to have been treated and cared for by Anna.”
