FAQs

Do I need to have anything ready for treatment?

Be prepared to provide your previous medical or surgical history. If you have them and they are relevant it would be good for us to see scan/MRI reports, and a list of medication. You may wish to wear shorts and t-shirt or comfortable sportswear.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of treatments will vary depending on the problem and the individual. After a thorough assessment, your physiotherapist will discuss their treatment plan for the rehabilitation process with you.

What should I wear for a Physio session?

You maybe asked to remove some items of clothing for assessment or specific exercises. If you are uncomfortable with this then just let the therapist know and they can adapt accordingly. Comfortable trousers which roll up above your knee and a vest top is suitable attire for the sessions.

Do I have to be referred by a doctor?

No, physiotherapists can assess and treat without referral by a doctor. However, most health insurers require a doctor’s referral before they authorise cover of fees. Some only require a phone call.
